Roar for the Cause is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, particularly among the fastest-growing demographic: individuals under 40.

Our founder, Lauren Shugrue, experienced the impact of this disease at a young age, inspiring our mission to advocate for and empower others facing similar challenges. We recognize the unique physical, emotional, and financial hurdles that accompany an early diagnosis, especially when screening and treatment often fall outside typical insurance protections.

We exist to give a voice to those navigating breast cancer early in life and to shine a light on the urgent need for awareness, accessibility, and support. Join us in the Roar for the Cause.
Our Mission
Roar for the Cause was founded with the mission to raise awareness of breast cancer’s unique challenges among younger individuals, promote education on risk and early detection, and advocate for access to screenings, treatment, and resources regardless of insurance coverage or financial constraints.

Breast cancer continues to rise among younger women. Those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s have experienced a 1.4% annual increase in incidence from 2012 to 2021. Early-onset cases are often more aggressive and, unfortunately, more likely to be missed due to lower screening rates and limited insurance coverage for preventive testing.

Roar for the Cause addresses these issues through funding, advocacy, education, and financial support for individuals affected by breast cancer and their care communities. Together, we strive to ensure that age and access never stand in the way of early detection or quality care.
Funding Support
Financial barriers should never prevent early detection or access to care. Roar for the Cause is committed to providing funding assistance for individuals under 40 who face obstacles in obtaining breast cancer screenings, diagnostic testing, or treatment due to lack of insurance coverage or financial hardship.
